Humidification Control in the Textile Industry

Indications that your textile production facility is experiencing a static build-up ranges from, yarn breakages, low recovery, dust, fly or lint.  All of these indicate dry air and can be aided by putting the moisture back into the atmosphere.

Advantages of maintaining correct humidity levels

  • With optimum humidification levels, materials are less prone to breakage, heating and friction effects, they handle better, have fewer flaws, are more consistent and feel better.      
  • Elevated humidity levels decreases static problems.  A static free environment will make materials more manageable and enhance equipment speeds.                    
  • Ensuring the correct humidity level during the cutting and fitting process of garments, this will ensure the upholding of specifications where dimensions are vital, such as in the carpet/clothing industry.
  • Humidification control lessens fly and micro-dust particles, ensuring a healthier and further comfortable working atmosphere.
  • Humidifiers which can spray have a considerable cooling effect, decreasing high factory temperatures.

Problems experienced due to humidity in the Textile industry

  • Dry air is the cause of lower recovery and this result in poor quality and lower productivity.
  • Fibre/yarns that are kept in a low humidified area, is generally weaker, thinner, more breakable, less elastic, creates extra chafing and is thus more prone to static electricity.
  • Textile weights are standardised at 60% rH and 20°C. Low humidity causes lower material weight and lowered profits.
  •  Fabric shrinkages are caused by low humidity levels.

What is the best way to achieve the required HUMIDITY levels?

  • With the use of Misting SA’s series of speciality  MIST nozzles placed in a line around the perimeter of an area, or by using specially designed MISTING rings, attached to box / oscillating fans, when connected to a high pressure MISTING system pump, water is forced through the specialty nozzles and quickly atomized to droplets as small as  (5 microns).
  • When MISTING systems are placed inside an enclosed area (such as a factory), the billions of droplets that are produced will initially provide cooling as the droplets evaporate. However, if the air exchange is limited, the MISTING system will continue to increase the HUMIDITY level within the structure. HUMIDITY levels as high as 90+% are possible. This unique characteristic of all MISTING systems makes them ideal for both cooling and HUMIDIFICATION.
