As tobacco is a plant with high moisture content, it loses moisture within a dry environment, you are guaranteed shrinkage, flaking, brittleness, splitting and loss of weight of tobacco. The correct level of humidity can prevent aforementioned problems, with the ideal moisture content being about 15%.
